Cancer Strikes Again

I found out a couple days ago that a close relative has been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (T-Cell). And I’m really, really worried. I’m being vague to respect my relative’s privacy, even though I’m not aware of anyone that knows me personally visiting this blog.

So far we don’t know much. I’m told this week will mark a series of doctor’s visits that will include a full body scan, PET scan and chemo visit #1.  It turns out that there are two types of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma – B cell and T cell. T cell seems to be the one they have a rougher time treating in most cases. What I’m most worried about is their attitude. This person has a tendency to pessimism all their life.

So now I’ve got a relative (child) with Leukemia, and now one with Lymphoma. While I couldn’t participate in the LLS activities this year, several of my friends are. I will be supporting them any way I can. In the meantime, I’ll be researching and trying to find things that will help while they endure the coming treatments. (If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!) I realize I’ve been posting intermittently before this… I can’t say how this diagnosis might affect my presence here.

If you’re one that prays, I’m asking! And while you’re at it, hubby has an appointment to get some suspicious looking moles checked on Friday.

So sorry to hear that. My husband lost his father to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma years ago, but they have many better treatments now. We’ve done the LLS Light the Night walk for a few years now. It’s a great organization.
You and your family are in my thoughts.

  8. In Mar 2006 had my triple by-pass. Must have had several dozen little tiny heart attacks decade prior. Had to retire school teacher. They found chronic lymohocytic leukemia. The white cell count stays double or triple and they watch and wait and the doctor says it’s pretty much benign. That “pretty much” part is not very comforting though. Probably have it two decades. I am 61. If it’s my time at least I will go clean and sober(8 1/2 years). They say “see ya in 6 months” all the time so far. It’s hard to be humorous or productive writing when so concerned with others, right? Keep your blog. Keep living. I am not afraid but am sole care taker my 86 years old parents and kids and grandkids really need me, I am pillars of family. Only thing I do different now is try never to be the source of some one else’s unhappiness. Be sure to be upbeat around these family members and never have that”you’ll be gone next” month look in your eye because they can sense it. And for all the loved ones and friends that are gone I am thankful they were part of my life. My prayers….

    • Hi there – thanks for sharing! I think so many things were going on, and all at once (isn’t that always the way?), that I needed a good, long break. But now I’m back! 🙂 Congrats on staying clean & sober, especially with all the challenges you’ve faced.

Please do not publish this comment as we wish to keep this a surprise for The Idiot.

Many apologies if this subject seems irrelevant or unsympathetic to your difficult situation. I’ll be thinking of you.

A small group of fans of The Idiot Speaketh hailing from all over the globe and inspired by recent events in Peru, have decided to form a coalition of Idiot fans – namely IDIOT WORSHIPPERS! If you are anything like us, you too have been suffering from debilitating withdrawal symptoms since The Idiot left the U.S. ostensibly on some “mission” to “train people.” He is due to return to the U.S. on October 5th and we would like to throw him a HUGE welcome home party!
We have designed a site specifically for that purpose. It is https://idiotworshipers.wordpress.com/
We want to shower him with gifts, douse him with adulation, spray him with the mighty force of our gratitude (…wait…that sounded a little kinky…) In short, we want to show him a HUGE, ENORMOUS, GARGANTUAN welcome home….
As a fellow IDIOT WORSHIPPERS, please take a few minutes to write a blog or a comment telling him how much he has been missed and welcoming him home.
We have written a “Welcome Idiot Worshipers” intro for you which you can access from the right hand side: go to “Idiotness” and then select the Welcome blog category. Right now it doesn’t matter, but once people start posting, it may be at the very bottom and not so obvious to find. This Welcome includes suggestions and links you may find useful!!
To create on our site you can simply log in using the group login name and password which are as follows:
    Username: idiotworshipers
    password: redriverpak
BUT please make sure you sign your blog prominently so he will know who it comes from!!!!
Lets all begin to post now so this is up and running for when he returns on Tuesday!!
OK folks, Tuesday is PARTY TIME!!! 🙂
